All of these share a philosophy of oral education teaching language skills to children who may wear assistive hearing devices or have had cochlear implants. Emphasizing a mission of “teaching deaf children to talk”, The Moog Center works with families and young children from birth to the early elementary grades with the goal of preparing the child to become self-sufficient in communication skills and return to the family’s home school district. Central Institute for the Deaf, affiliated with Washington University, provides early intervention services and also has an auditory-oral school for children aged five to twelve.
