The committee is encouraging parents and providers to forward this First Steps Valentine to your local legislators in the effort to keep them aware of the program and to share a positive message thanking them for their support.
Dear Parents:
As the Chair of the Advocacy Committee for Region I and II of First Steps, I know firsthand the importance of educating legislators about the First Steps Program, and our committee members work on this throughout the year.
Now that the legislative session is underway, it is time to reach out to our Senators and Representatives once again with this important message.
First Steps continues to serve more children and families than ever, but it is still a very small program, it can easily get lost is the hundreds of bills and priorities they address during the legislative session.
No one’s voice is more important than yours, so we are asking for your help, and Valentine’s Day seems like the perfect occasion! Just think about the impression that hundreds or thousands of valentines from families will leave with our state leaders!
This email is to ask you to take a moment and send a valentine to your legislator!
We have tried to make it simple and quick for busy parents. ( Of course, feel free to send to send your own valentine if you prefer, or add your personal story to this one.)
