My home email is Dbonney51989@gmail.com in case you need it- now that I’m done, I don’t know if I’ll be able to access my LU account!
As Rachel Morgan has been using an iPad as an educational tool with her children since the iPad was introduced in March 2010, I’ve asked Rachel to write a regular column on iPad apps for children of all abilities. With four children from the ages of ten to two, I feel she is uniquely qualified. I first knew Rachel as a Child Find Coordinator for Missouri First Steps. After working for ten years as a First Steps Service Coordinator, she is currently a graduate assistant for Lindenwood University.
Please feel free to send comments, give feedback, or suggest your favorite apps to us.

In this class assignment, future teachers (my students) watch three videos and write reflections in 35 words or less stating what they want for your children.

As we all, myself included, get ready for the new 2019-2020 school year, I find myself digging through last year’s course evaluations and reflecting on “redesign”. In my Inbox from The Council for Exceptional Children, arrived a timely link to a blog by a special ed. teacher that apply to every teacher in the universe: three questions to ask myself.

Please apply directly to St. Charles City Human Resources website if you are interested. St. Charles School District is in need of a preschool paraprofessional to work approximately 2:45-6:00 daily with our MPP students and extended care at Coverdell Elementary.
What I want for your child is to feel loved and safe at all times. I want your child to feel like we have a strong, teacher-student, relationship, because in order for significant learning to take place a relationship must be prevalent. What I want for your child is for him or her have the same opportunities to learn and grown as every other student. I want him or her to grow intellectually & emotionally. Finally, what I want most for your child is for them to experience a life long hunger for knowledge and success in someone so they can hopefully emulate that.
What I want for your child is to have the same benefits and opportunities as any other American Citizen. Your child deserves respect, empathy, and independence. You child’s outstretched hand is to be held in admiration as a greeting between equal, like-minded individuals with personal goals and aspirations.
It deeply saddens me to see how people with disabilities were labeled as disabled and basically thrown out to the curb. Instead we need to create a society that sees disabled people as people first who love and have the like interests as anyone in society.
I want a learning environment where children do not feel defined by their disability but can freely express themselves and let their individual personalities shine. I want children to have the opportunity to share their personality with their peers and truly engage with one another in a learning experience.
We must recognize and support students’ talents, strengths and gifts, not their disabilities. Labels only restrict expectations we have for ourselves and others. Social-emotional development is an understated yet vital part of every students’ growth. Allowing student led peer interaction creates learning opportunities that have profound, lasting effects.
I want for your child is to be included in a general population classroom. I think this will boost their social skills and help with communication. I think the last video was great with Avery because she felt more comfortable and opened up to her teachers more.
